Elonga54 was conceived as a large-scale esports tournament for the South African gaming community, bringing together 30+ competing clubs, major prize incentives, sponsors, and spectators.
The client needed a cinematic teaser that could help partners and sponsors picture what the event could become.
The video also needed to feel specifically South African, while matching the production energy of established esports campaigns.
South Africa already has an active competitive scene spanning titles such as Valorant, League of Legends, Dota 2, Counter-Strike, Rocket League, Tekken and others.
Working with the team at Frqncy Studio, I researched esports tournament campaigns, local visual references, venues, players, audiences, cinematography, sound design, transitions, and pacing.
From our storyboard, I built AI-generated scenes depicting South African gamers, teams, spectators, and tournament environments. My prompting process focused on:
• Character and visual consistency
• Accurate clothing, branding, environments, and demographics
• Cinematic camera placement and lighting
• Natural crowd and player behavior
• Realistic image-to-video motion
• Intentional camera direction for every shot
• Minimizing common AI issues such as warping, morphing, and inconsistent details
Rather than treating each AI generation as an isolated visual, I designed the shots to work together as a sequence and tell the story of a tournament building toward a championship.
Once the AI image and video assets were complete, I assembled the teaser in Adobe After Effects, combining them with gameplay footage, typography, overlays, transitions, sound effects, music, and graphic assets.
Cuts, effects, and text animations were timed closely to the soundtrack so the finished piece carried the pace and excitement of an esports campaign rather than feeling like a collection of AI-generated clips.
The client responded positively to the first version, particularly highlighting the AI-generated footage, visual effects, transitions, typography, and overall editing. After a focused revision round, the final two-minute teaser was approved.
The finished film became part of the client's presentation materials for pitching the Elonga54 concept to partners and potential sponsors.
AI generation works best when it is directed, not simply generated.This project combined prompt engineering, visual research, cinematography, storytelling, motion design, and editing to turn AI outputs into a cohesive campaign film rather than a series of disconnected shots.
